British sport has some truly talented young athletes right now. Not just people hyped up by social media – actual world-class performers who are winning major titles and breaking records.
Here are the young rising British sports talents to watch in 2025 who are genuinely worth your time.
Luke Littler – The Darts Teenage Sensation
Started writing this on November 14th. Luke Littler is currently smashing his way through the Grand Slam of Darts, defending his title from last year.
He’s 18 years old. Won seven major titles already. Became world champion in January 2025 at 17. Absolute madness.
Littler is averaging over 100 in most matches. That’s mental scoring for anyone, let alone someone who should still be in sixth form. He’s won the World Championship, Premier League, World Matchplay, World Grand Prix, and UK Open – basically everything except world number one, which he’ll probably get by the end of November.
What makes him different is that he doesn’t get nervous. Most players fall apart under pressure. Littler thrives on it. Stuck a nine-dart finish in the Premier League final at the O2 Arena like it was nothing.
He’s changed darts completely. Younger crowds are turning up now. Prize money’s going up. The sport’s becoming mainstream again. All because this kid from Warrington can chuck arrows better than anyone.

Alex Yee – British Triathlon Gold Medalist
Paris Olympics 2024: Men’s Triathlon. Yee was running second with a kilometre to go. Everyone thought Hayden Wilde from New Zealand had gold wrapped up.
Then Yee kicked into a gear no one knew he had. Reined in Wilde in the last 300 metres and then zoomed past him to take Olympic gold. One of the most epic finishes you’ll ever see.
He is now the most decorated Olympic triathlete ever. Two golds, one silver, and one bronze across Tokyo and Paris. Still only 27 years old.
The winner of the World Championship in October 2024, following third‐, second and fifth-place finishes the previous three years. Finally got it done when it counted.
This year, Yee’s mixing things up. Ran the London Marathon in April and finished 14th overall in 2:11:08. Not bad for his first marathon ever. Won a Supertri event in Toronto in July. Planning more triathlon racing through late 2025.
The thing about Yee is he’s constantly improving. And has no ego about it either. Just keeps his head down, trains harder than everybody else and gets it done when championships are at stake.

Jude Bellingham – The Young Football Star Everyone Knows
Yeah, everyone knows about Jude Bellingham. But he’s 22 now, and he keeps getting better, which is scary. He cost Real Madrid €103 million in 2023. Worth every penny. Scored 23 goals as a midfielder in his first season in La Liga. Won the league and Champions League in his debut season.
England vice-captain at 21. Started every match at Euro 2024. Scored that overhead kick against Slovakia that saved England from going home early.
This season at Real Madrid, he’s adapted his game. Playing deeper, creating more, still scoring when needed. Manager Carlo Ancelotti calls him “complete”, which, from Ancelotti, is massive praise.
The scary thing? He’s still improving. Most players peak at 27-28. Bellingham is 22 and already world-class. Imagine what he’ll be like in five years.
Katarina Johnson-Thompson-The British Heptathlete Who Finally Won
Katarina Johnson-Thompson is 32 now, so maybe not “young rising” anymore. But 2024 was her breakthrough year after years of injuries and near misses.
Won the World Indoor Championships in March 2024 in Glasgow. Proper emotional victory after all the setbacks. Then came back and defended her world outdoor title in September in Japan.
She’s had two Achilles injuries, a calf tear that needed surgery, and COVID at the Tokyo Olympics. Could’ve given up multiple times. Didn’t.
Her personal best in the heptathlon is 6981 points. That’s the British record. Only Jessica Ennis-Hill has done better for Britain.
KJT’s relationship with Nike ended recently, which created drama, but she’s still competing at the highest level heading into 2026 and beyond.
Keely Hodgkinson – The 800m Runner Breaking Records
Keely is 22 and recently won Olympic gold in Paris. But for years, she’s already been brilliant. Won Olympic silver in Tokyo at 19. Won world silver in 2022. Won European gold in 2022. Then, finally,y Olympic gold in Paris 2024 with a British record of 1:56.72.
She already has the three fastest 800m times by a British woman of all time. All in the last two years.
What’s mad is how consistent she is. Makes it to every major final. Always competitive. Never gets injured. That reliability’s rare in athletics.
She’s already talking about going for 1500 m records too. Reckons she can break Kelly Holmes’ British record. At 22, she’s got plenty of time.
Emma Raducanu – Still Finding Her Way
British Tennis had massive hopes after Emma won the US Open in 2021 at 18. Then injuries destroyed the next three years.
2024 wasn’t great. Struggled with consistency. Dropped to 58 in the world rankings by mid-year. Lost early at most tournaments.
But she’s still only 22. Rafael Nadal didn’t win his first major till 19. Andy Murray was 25. Emma won hers at 18, then got wrecked by injuries. Wrist surgery, ankle problems, the lot.
If she stays healthy through 2025-2026, she’s got the talent to get back into the top 20. Big if, though. Tennis careers are short, rt, and injuries can finish you quickly.
Josh Kerr – The Miler Who Beat Ingebrigtsen
Josh Kerr is 27, Scottish, and runs middle distance. Beat Jakob Ingebrigtsen to win the world 1500m gold in 2023.
That was massive. Ingebrigtsen had dominated for years. Everyone thought he was untouchable. Kerr proved he wasn’t.
Olympic silver in Paris 2024. Pushed all the way by Cole Hocker from the USA, who somehow won gold. Kerr was gutted, but silver at the Olympics is still brilliant.
He’s training in Edinburgh now, having returned from the States. Setting up for another crack at major titles in 2025-2026. The 1500m rivalry between him, Ingebrigtsen, and the Americans is box office.
Sky Brown – The Skateboarder Who’s Still a Teenager
Sky Brown won Olympic bronze in Tokyo at 13. Let that sink in. Thirteen years old and winning Olympic medals.
She’s 17 now. Competed in Paris 2024, didn’t medal but got to the final, which is nothing short of incredible when you consider how young the sport is as a professional event.
Sky’s also into surfing. Competes in both. Wants to do both at the LA 2028 Olympics. That’d be mental if she pulls it off.
She’s California-based but also competes for Great Britain. Her mum’s Japanese, and her dad’s British. Picked Britain because she felt more of an attachment there. She already has her own line of clothes and sponsors. At 17. The earning potential for her over the next decade is huge if she keeps progressing.
Tom Pidcock – Cycling’s Multi-Discipline Star
Tom Pidcock is a road cyclist, mountain biker and cyclocrosser. He is 25 and great at all three. Olympic mountain bike gold in Tokyo 2021. Successfully defended it in Paris 2024 despite getting a puncture. Just absolutely dominated once he got back in contention.
On the road, he’s won stages at the Tour de France. Not many British riders can do that. It crashes a lot, though, which is worrying.
His contract situation is messy. Supposed to be with Ineos Grenadiers through 202,7, but there’s been tension. Rumours of him leaving for Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team.
If he stays focused and stops crashing, Pidcock could win major road races and keep dominating mountain biking. That combination’s rare.
Ben Stokes – Still Leading England Cricket
Stokes i 34, so definitely not “young”. But he’s still England’s cricket captain and making headlines in 2025.
Led England to win in Pakistan recently. His aggressive “Bazball” approach changed Test cricket. Some love it, some hate it, but it’s entertaining.
Can’t bowl much anymore because of his knee. That limits him. But his captaincy and batting are still world-class.
England’s got a packed schedule through 2025-2026. The Ashes series is coming up. World Cup. Stokes will be key to all of it if he stays healthy.
