Contributor Guidelines

Hi there! So, you’re thinking about writing for Stories Buzz? That’s awesome — we love working with people who have something to say and want to share it in a real, friendly way. This page will tell you everything you need to know before you send us your pitch or article.

What We’re Looking For

We want stories that feel honest, helpful, or just really interesting. If it’s something you’d share with a friend over coffee, it probably fits. Here are some of the kinds of pieces we love:

  • Personal experiences that readers can relate to
  • Simple how-to guides or tips that really work
  • News pieces with a fresh take or easy explanation
  • Lists that are actually fun to read
  • Opinion pieces that are clear, respectful, and well thought out
  • Stories about lifestyle, wellness, business, entertainment, tech, travel, or pop culture

Don’t worry about sounding perfect. Just sound human.

Keep In Mind

We’re not looking for academic writing or essays. We want pieces that are light, clean, and easy to read. If you’re unsure, just imagine you’re talking to someone smart, curious, and maybe a little tired of reading long, complicated articles. A few more things we like:

  • Clear, short sentences
  • Natural tone — not stiff, not robotic
  • Simple words that anyone can understand
  • Real examples, even small personal moments
  • Original content — no copying, no plagiarism

What We Don’t Publish

To keep things clear:

  • No AI-written or heavily AI-edited content
  • No medical or legal advice from unverified sources
  • No hate speech, political rants, or anything offensive
  • No keyword-stuffed SEO pieces
  • No generic listicles that don’t offer anything new
  • No sponsored or affiliate-heavy posts (unless discussed first)

What Makes A Good Story Here?

Simple: write like a human. Here are a few small things that go a long way:

  • Keep your sentences short and clean.
  • Use your own voice. Don’t try to sound too fancy.
  • Talk to the reader. Use “you” and “I.” Make it personal.
  • Include examples from your life. Even the small stuff helps people relate.
  • Don’t try to cram in too much. Focus on one clear idea per article.
  • If you’ve got stats or links, great — just make sure they’re accurate and sourced.

We love when writers bring in little details. What was the weather like that day? What did your coffee taste like? What song was playing in the background? These tiny things make a big difference.

Word Count And Format

We usually prefer articles between 800 and 1200 words. Sometimes a little shorter or longer works too, as long as the story is strong. Use:

  • Short paragraphs
  • Subheadings
  • Bullet points (when it helps)
  • A headline that actually matches the story

Please avoid:

  • Long blocks of text
  • Overused phrases like “In today’s world…”
  • Lists with no personality
  • Sentences that go on forever

If you’re writing about something sensitive or personal, we ask that you handle it with care. Be kind to yourself and your readers.

How To Submit

Include:

  • A short intro about you
  • 1–2 writing samples or a link to your blog/portfolio
  • The topic you’d like to write about
  • If it’s a finished piece, attach it as a Google Doc or Word file
  • Please don’t send PDFs

We read every submission. If we like your pitch, we’ll get back within 5–7 days.

What Happens After That?

If we like your pitch or piece, we’ll work with you to shape it into something great. We might suggest edits. Sometimes small ones. Sometimes more. Don’t worry — we’ll be kind about it. Once the piece is final, we’ll schedule it for publication. You’ll get credit, of course. If you want a short bio or link to your blog/socials, just send it over.

Can You Write For Us More Than Once?

Yes! If you enjoy the process and we love your work, we’re happy to work with you again. Some of our regular writers started with one story. If it clicks, it clicks.

Final Tips

Before you send something, ask yourself:

  • Is this something I would stop to read?
  • Is this told in a way that feels real?
  • Does it offer a moment, an idea, or a takeaway?

If the answer is yes, we’d love to hear from you.

Still Got Questions?
