Has Andy Murray Split Up with His Wife? Setting the Record Straight

Published on August 29, 2025 by Erica Smith

Look, I’ve been seeing this question pop up all over social media lately, and frankly, it’s doing my head in. Has Andy Murray split up with his wife? The answer’s a big fat no. They’re fine. More than fine, actually.

But I get it. There’s been some proper confusing headlines floating about, and people are getting their wires crossed. So let me tell you what’s really going on.

Andy Murray and Kim Murray are still married. Still living in Surrey with their four kids. Still posting the odd family photo that makes the rest of us feel like underachievers. They actually celebrated ten years of marriage this April, which is mental when you think about how long they’ve been together overall.

Why Everyone’s Getting Confused

Here’s the thing that’s winding everyone up. Some websites have been digging up old stories about when Andy Murray and Kim Murray briefly split back in 2008. Yeah, that actually happened. But we’re talking seventeen years ago now. I was still at university then, for crying out loud.

They were kids then; Andy Murray age was 21, and Kim was barely 20. Course they had a wobble. Most relationships do at that age, don’t they? The difference is when you’re dating a future tennis superstar, everyone knows about it.

That split lasted about five minutes in the grand scheme of things. Andy went a bit daft with his money during that period (his words, not mine) and probably bought some ridiculous car or something. Kim carried on with her art. Then they realised they were being idiots and got back together.

Has Andy Murray Split Up with His Wife? – The Real Story

I’ve watched these two for years now. Started following tennis properly around 2009, just after they’d sorted themselves out. Kim was always there at the big matches, sitting in that players’ box looking absolutely terrified whenever Andy was on court.

You could tell it was real, though. Not like some of these other tennis relationships where everything looks a bit staged for the cameras. When Andy won Wimbledon in 2013, Kim was proper crying. Ugly crying, even. That’s not something you can fake.

They got married in 2015 at Dunblane Cathedral. Lovely ceremony, by all accounts. Then the kids started coming: Sophia first, then Edie, Teddy, and little Lola during lockdown. Four kids in five years. Bloody hell, Kim deserves a medal just for that.

Life After Tennis

Has Andy Murray split up with his wife since he retired? Are you having a laugh? If anything, they seem happier now that he’s not constantly flying off to tournaments.

Andy Murray’s been doing bits of television work and some coaching here and there. Proper retired athlete stuff. Meanwhile, Kim’s getting back into her painting more seriously. She’s actually quite talented; she does these lovely pet portraits that she sells online.

The kids are all at school age now, more or less. They moved to this massive house in Leatherhead a couple of years back. Custom built, apparently. Swimming pool, tennis court, the works. Not bad for a lad from Dunblane, eh?

What I Think About It All

I’ve always liked Kim. She never tried to be the typical WAG, never courted attention, or did magazine shoots every five minutes. Just got on with supporting Andy Murray and raising their family. That takes proper backbone when you’re married to someone that famous.

And Andy? Well, he’s always been a bit awkward with the media, hasn’t he? But you can see he absolutely dotes on his family. The way he talks about Kim in interviews, you’d think they were still teenagers with a crush on each other.

Remember during his final Wimbledon? Kim was there with all four kids, looking like she was about to have a breakdown watching him struggle through that last match. That’s not the behaviour of someone planning to leg it, is it?

The Internet’s Fault

Social media‘s made everything worse, obviously. Someone shares a headline from 2008 about their brief split, and suddenly everyone thinks it’s current news. Then you get the conspiracy theorists saying they haven’t been seen together lately (they have), or that Kim looked unhappy in some photo (she was probably just tired as four kids will do that to you).

The truth is boring. They’re a normal family now. Well, normal apart from the millions in the bank and the OBE. Andy Murray picks up the kids from school sometimes. Kim does the weekly shop at Waitrose. They probably argue about whose turn it is to put the bins out.

My Take

Has Andy Murray split up with his wife? Not a chance. I reckon they’re stronger now than they’ve ever been. No more months apart while Andy’s on tour. No more sitting courtside wondering if he’s going to injure himself again. No more living their lives around the tennis calendar.

They’ve done their time in the spotlight. Now they get to be proper parents without cameras following them about. Andy Murray can actually be home for bedtime stories and school sports days. Kim doesn’t have to pretend she’s not bricking it every time her husband steps on court.

If you ask me, this is probably the happiest they’ve been in years. The tennis was brilliant while it lasted, but real life’s pretty good too. Long may it continue for them both.
