Gordon Ramsay Has Praised His Future Son-in-Law Adam Peaty and It’s Actually Sweet

Published on August 27, 2025 by Erica Smith

So I’m watching Hell’s Kitchen the other night, right? Gordon Ramsay’s doing his usual thing: yelling at some hapless chef about how their beef wellington’s a disaster. Then I notice this Instagram post from his daughter Holly flashing her engagement ring. The same guy who just described someone’s cooking as “an insult to cows everywhere” is posting heart emojis and soppy comments. Additionally, Gordon Ramsay has praised his future son-in-law Adam Peaty, as well.

Catherine from work will not stop talking about it. Every time we take a coffee break, she’s like, “Did you see what Gordon posted about Adam?” or “See how beautiful these wedding pictures are!” I swear she knows more about the Ramsay family than Gordon’s own publicist. But fair enough; it is pretty mad seeing Chef Shouty-Pants acting like a big softie.

The Engagement That Had Everyone Talking

Holly Ramsay and Adam Peaty Were Engaged in September 2024, and blimey, did it cause a stir. Holly confirmed her engagement to the British Olympic gold medal-winning swimmer on Thursday, with the 29-year-old swimmer declaring that he is the ‘luckiest man on the earth’.

I remember the next day scrolling through Instagram and seeing the photos. Nice romantic stuff; Adam had obviously put some thought into it. The ring was beautiful too, this beautiful gold diamond that was likely worth more than my car.

What got me was how sweet their posts were. Not that generic “said yes!” rubbish you usually see. “I can’t believe you’re going to be my wife. I really am the luckiest man on the planet to have such a gentle, loving, and breathtaking woman by my side. You fill up my heart to the brim and give me soul peace,” he wrote them on Instagram.

Proper soppy, but in a good way.

Gordon Ramsay’s Reaction Was Brilliant

Now it gets interesting. You’d expect Gordon Ramsay to give Adam the third degree, right? Maybe send him to some cooking boot camp or yell at him about seasoning. But no; this man has turned all mushy.

“Adam is a very lucky man! Welcome to the family,” Gordon wrote on Instagram as he confirmed the exciting news. And that, from a guy who has brought burly chefs to tears on national television, is as close to a love letter as the man is ever likely to write.

But it gets better. Gordon Ramsay hailed his future son-in-law Adam Peaty as “amazing” as he appeared on The Jonathan Ross Show. He seemed full of compliments for his son-in-law-to-be, adding, “It’s going to be a Christmas wedding, and they’re looking at areas and venues and all the planning.

You can tell he’s genuinely chuffed about the whole thing. No drama, no protective dad nonsense; just proper approval.

What Adam Peaty Says About Gordon Ramsay

The feeling is mutual: respect runs both ways. Speaking to The Sunday Times in April 2024, the three-time Olympics gold medalist said, “He [Gordon Ramsay] is an incredible energy to be around and an incredible person to have that guidance from. Gordon is a high performer.”

Smart move from Adam, that. Knowing that Gordon’s not just your average celeb chef but a decent businessman who has created an empire. Shows he knows what he’s marrying into.

They’re Properly Part Of The Family Now

That’s been nice, seeing how well Adam’s been received into the Ramsay family. I saw pics from the T100 London Triathlon a couple of weeks ago; there’s Adam out there racing with Gordon Ramsay and the entire family. Adam Peaty was among the Team Ramsay fundraisers at T100 London, and the entire family, including Tana Ramsay and Tilly Ramsay, took part.

That is genuinely family, isn’t it? Joining Gordon in some of his crazy fitness challenges and charity events. Shows he’s not just dating Holly but he’s committed to the whole package.

The Wedding Plans Are Happening

Holly, 25, was pictured attending a Western-themed pre-wedding party before her wedding to Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty and captioned them, “Bridal era is so far my favourite era.”

As far as I know, they are going to have a Christmas wedding, which seems kind of bonkers but also sort of lovely. Now who do you suppose the guests would be? Olympic swimmers, celebrity chefs, half the sports world and all of Gordon’s famous mates?

The Thing Is Though

Celebrity couples get engaged every other week. Usually I couldn’t care less. But this one’s different somehow. Maybe it’s because Gordon Ramsay’s always been such a hardass on TV, and then you see him going all gooey over his daughter’s boyfriend. Makes you think these famous people are just regular parents underneath all the shouting and swearing.

My Katie’s only 16, but already I’m dreading the day some spotty teenager turns up at my door wanting to take her out. Will I handle it as well as Gordon has? Probably not. I’ll probably do something embarrassing like show the kid my golf trophies or lecture him about car insurance.

Gordon Ramsay’s Gone Soft

You ought to be watching Gordon Talk About Adam On The Chat Shows. It’s mental. This is the man who once made a grown man cry because his risotto was too salty. Now he’s there smiling like an idiot, talking to Jonathan Ross about how “lucky” his family is.

My wife says Gordon actually quite likes having someone around who knows the pressure of playing at the highest level. It makes sense, as Adam won Olympic gold medals and Gordon’s got Michelin stars. They likely sit around comparing stressors.

What’s Next For The Happy Couple

With the Christmas wedding coming up, my bet’s on seeing a lot more of Gordon Ramsay swooning over Adam. The chef is definitely leaning into his new job as future father-in-law, and, can I say, it looks wonderful on him.

Adam has Olympic medals, and Gordon’s got Michelin stars; between them they’ve probably got more achievements than most small nations. But what matters is that they’ve both found someone who makes them happy.

Final Thoughts

It’s heartwarming to see a celebrity family story that’s actually sweet, rather than sensational. No wars, no stories planted about disagreements, just a proud pop whose daughter has found a nice bloke.

And besides, if you can impress Gordon Ramsay, you’ve got to be doing something right. The man will not put up with fools, so Adam must have some redeeming virtues besides swimming really fast.

Fair play to both of them. Occasionally one of these celebrity relationships work out, and this one looks like it might just be the real deal.
