Long-serving Romford MP quits Tory party.

Andrew Rosindell, MP for Romford since 2001, has officially left the Conservative Party and joined Reform UK.

He is the second Tory MP to defect in one week.

Rosindell said it was time to “put country before party” and cited deep disagreements with the Tories over the Chagos Islands sovereignty deal.

His move brings Reform UK’s total MPs to seven and boosts Nigel Farage’s party ahead of upcoming elections.

Nigel Farage welcomed Rosindell as a “patriot” and a strong addition to Reform’s ranks. Some Conservatives called the defection a blow to party unity.
